All classes incorporate pose variations as needed and end with relaxation, breathing exercises, and a short meditation.

For a group class you must be able to:
Sit on the floor (except Gentle)
Get up and down from the floor (using a chair for help is totally fine)
Be on hands and knees
Lie on your stomach
These are general guidelines – contact me about any concerns you may have. No mobility limitations for private classes.

 

This is functional yoga. The goal is for you to be able to move safely and comfortably through your life, doing daily things, for as long as possible. There is no need to be able to stand on your head or tie yourself into knots, although it helps to be curious about your body, your mind and your heart.

Pricing Options: $15 drop in or a 6 class pass for $75 (must use within 2 months)

In this class, students will be exploring deeper levels of traditional bare-hand forms.  We will also begin our study of the traditional Yang style push hands curriculum.  This class is appropriate for students that have some form background.

Wild fermentation is a way of incorporating the wild into your body, becoming one with the natural world. Wild foods, microbial cultures included, possess a great, unmediated life force, which can help us adapt to shifting conditions and lower our susceptibility to disease. These microorganisms are everywhere, and the techniques for fermenting with them are simple and flexible.

Inspired by Sandor Katz and his book Wild Fermentation, it's designed to set you on the path to a perfect kimchi and a whole new outlook in the kitchen. Prenatal Yoga

Krista Jones, RYT, CD(DONA) is a yoga instructor and mother of three living and practicing in Athens, Georgia. She became pregnant with her first little girl while completing the Yoga Alliance 200-hr Teacher training at the Tallapoosa Center for Inner Arts. As her focus started shifting (along with her changing body), Krista then enrolled in the Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training through the Mamaste program, which conforms the safety guidelines of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) for exercise during pregnancy. Krista so enjoyed working with expectant new Mammas that she then decided to undergo her Doula training through DONA International so that she can share her passion for childbirth and motherhood with other women in the community.

Prenatal yoga is a great way to cultivate strength, flexibility and stamina - all of which help you feel great throughout your pregnancy as well as prepare your mind and body for Labor, Birth and Motherhood, along with teaching breathing exercises and relaxation techniques. This one hour Prenatal Yoga class will focus on poses that help ease the discomforts associated with pregnancy and prepare the body for childbirth.

Drop-in rate is $14/class or six classes can be purchased for $60 (3 month expiration).

This 2 hour class is designed to help parents feel confident during the early weeks of breastfeeding. After spending almost a decade helping mothers navigate their breastfeeding challenges after baby's birth, Melanie has put a lot of thought into designing a class that will really help you avoid some of the most common early breastfeeding challenges! This class will be relaxed, informative and very encouraging. 

There will be ample time for questions on any aspect of breastfeeding before and after the prepared content. The class will highlight the instinctive, simple behaviors that mother and baby naturally display, and focus on the experiences that are common in healthy, uncomplicated breastfeeding scenarios. Melanie's goal is to prepare you for a "normal" breastfeeding experience, while giving you the information you need to navigate challenges that may arise.

These classes cover all the breastfeeding basics, with straight talk on the joys of breastfeeding and the challenges you might face. You will Learn how to set yourself up for success, how to know when breastfeeding is going well, and what to do if you run into challenges. Hi, My name is Kelly Anderson. I started teaching mat Pilates in 2007 and completed a 600 Hour Pilates Comprehensive Certification in 2015 through Power Pilates, N.Y. I love teaching because I love to help people improve their bodies and be a part in them feeling good about themselves. I would love for you to be a part of my class.

Pilates is a philosophy of exercising based on the principles created by Joseph Pilates. These principles focus on the idea that the core of the body should be stable and strong before the rest of the body is strengthened. Participants perform exercises in a seamless fashion to create an energized, pain-free, balanced and strong body.


In this class, we focus on the 6 Principles of Pilates:
1. Centering/ Stabilization- Understanding the importance of moving from a stable source. This can be physical, but there are also mental and breathing components.

2. Control – Learning to control one’s movements while paying full attention to detail in technique.

3. Concentration – It is better to do one repetition correctly than many without.

4. Flow/ Efficiency of Movement – Learning to move with ease through each exercise.

5. Breath – Learning to breathe along with the flow of movement and to facilitate core support. The breath can also be used for both energizing the body as well as relaxation.

6. Precision – focusing on details and practicing a keen awareness for optimal alignment of the body as a whole.

In this class, we also work on:
1. Strengthening the entire body
2. Balance
3. Agility
4. Stretching
5. Relaxation
6. Most Important – Having Fun!

Want to feel confidant and calm as you navigate the childbirth experience? Learn about normal birth, how to make this experience your own, and how to participate in your own care.  Our classes are small, informal and participation oriented. Our model combines a unique mix of classroom discussion, practice and exercise combined with home-study activities. Classes are taught by Kate Hodges , an experienced birth doula and mama of two.

4-week intensive Workshop on Wednesdays September 7th - 28th, 6:30-7:30 pm, pre-registration required, please email hannah.gay@babybootcamp.com to reserve space.

Cost: $100 plus $59 required Core 9 fitness equipment kit (purchased from teacher) and a foam roller ( either brought from home or purchased elsewhere by student ) 

Core9 Diastasis Repair is appropriate for women at any stage of motherhood (4 weeks postpartum and beyond). Each week class participants will meet for a small group training session. During our sessions we will focus on movements to strengthen and engage the pelvic floor and transverse abdominal muscles. Participants will receive individualized attention and will be expected to apply the learned movements as homework until the next session. Participants will receive a personalized assessment prior to the start of the workshop and after the workshop is complete.

The Taiji 24 Posture Standardized Form is the most popular Taiji form worldwide.  As such it acts as the "International Language" of enthusiasts everywhere.  From New York to Paris to New Delhi to Shanghai, one can find practitioners at public parks practicing the 24 form.  Graduates from this class will feel comfortable jumping right in, no matter where they are, and making friends with the locals.

 

The 24 is often referred to as a "short form".  In contrast to some of the longer traditional forms, this form is simpler to learn and takes less time to complete.  It is a perfect form for beginners, and a not-to-be-overlooked addition to the seasoned Taiji player's repertoire.

This is a 4 week series that includes 4 baskets of practice: meditation, breath work, movement and self massage techniques. Easy gentle movement both standing and moving which can be done by people who are trying the practice for the 1st time or by practitioners who wish to gain a new perspective to this ancient Chinese tradition.

Push Hands Principles with Tony Galis

This unique day-long workshop is designed to introduce the basic principles of traditional Yang style push hands.  This workshop is excellent for the student that genuinely seeks to understand their forms at a deeper level. Traditional forms will take on a completely different, arguably more "authentic" feel after experiencing this basic material.  It is also excellent preparation for the student interested in progressing to a study of push hands.  

The course is designed for any skill level.  Previous experience with a bare-hand form (24, 48, 108, "long form", "short form", etc...) is recommended.

THIS COURSE WILL NOT BE COMPETITIVE IN NATURE!  Though this course will include two-person drills and activities (partner work), we will perform these activities in a safe and cooperative environment.  We will not be studying traditional martial applications, though this material is a pre-requisite for understanding those applications.  This class is designed to take participants deeper into their own experience of Taiji (Tai Chi). 

Even if you have zero interest in Taiji as a martial art, this class will provide you with a new depth that will PROFOUNDLY affect your health and meditative goals!!
